Fuentes, Jovita

Jovita Fuentes (1895-1995), Philipino soprano, studied voice privately with an Italian teacher, then further studied in Italy. She sang in Manila, Japan and US. She became the chairperson of the Music Promotion Foundation of the Philippines. She is the first female National Artist for Music in 1976. Her significant contributions are publication of the song of Philipino compositions and organization of the Boys Town Band Concert.
