Fucik, Julius

Julius Fucik(1872-1916), Czech composer and conductor of bands. He learned to play several instruments, later studied composition under Dvorak. He played for several military bands and orchestras, later he became the conductor of the Prague City Orchestra. In 1909 he became the band master, at the time the band was one of the finest in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in 1913 he started to conduct his own orchestra. He composed marches, waltzes and polkas.
