Foster, Stephen Collins

Stephen Collins Foster (1826-1864), American composer of songs, he was largely self-taught in music, he published his first song in 1844. After publishing "Oh! Susanna", and "Uncle Ned" in 1844, he became a full-time song-writer. He composed mainly songs, such as "My Old Kentucky Home", Old Black Joe", Beautiful Dreamer" ... etc In 1853 he moved to New York and publishing his music. By the end of 19th century, he had achieved legendary status as America's best-loved songwriter.
