Forrester, Maureen

Maureen Forrester (1930- ), Canadian operatic contralto, she took voice lessons from private teachers in Toronto, she made her operatic debut in Montreal in 1953, and Paris debut in 1955. She became widely known in 1957 after a performance of Mahler's 2nd symphony in New York. She sang in Toronto, New York and San Francisco. Later she taught at the Philadelphia Academy of Music and University of Toronto.
