Flagstad, Kirsten

Kirsten Flagstad (1895-1962), Norwegian soprano, studied voice from her mother, then studied at Stockholm, made her debut at the Oslo Opera in 1913, toured France, Finland, Bayreuth, London, and NY Met, served as director of the Oslo Opera, 1958-1960. She was widely regarded as the foremost Wagnerian soprano of her generation.
