Field, John

John Field (1782-1837), Irish composer and pianist, studied with local teachers first, then his family moved to London, he studied with Clementi, toured Europe and Russia as pianist. He lived much of 1807-12, and all of 1821-31 in Moscow. His playing had become legendary in western Europe. He composed mainly piano music: 7 piano concertos, dances, etudes etc.
