Faure, Gabriel

Gabriel Faure(1845-1924), French composer, studied at the Ecole Niedermeyer in Paris, served as organist in Germany and France, professor at the Paris Conservatory and Ecole Niedemeyer, later appointed the director of the Paris Conservatory. In 1909 he became the first president of the Sciete musicale independende. He compsed 1 opera(Penelope), piano pieces(13 nocturnes, 13 barcarolles, 5 impromptus, 4 valse-caprices), string quartets, and songs.
